June 1st-2nd

Alright so I lost track for a little while.  My mother was visiting for some of March and April. You’re right, I totally slacked off for all of May as well.  But what’s a plan if sometimes you don’t go off roading a little bit?  Haha.  Ok for some serious-ness.  It’s really hard to cook I have to admit when...
A. Your husband eats [a sh*t ton] more than you.
B. Your husband doesn’t want to eat what you eat (“diet” stuff).
C. Your husband wants pasta (ALL THE TIME).
I’ve actually started to not like pasta too much.  For the times I do eat pasta I usually eat the Barilla Plus with omega 3 multi-grain which is great for those pasta craving times.
I’ve also come up with a little trick, which my husband now questions my pasta dishes when it calls for ricotta.  I actually use half silken tofu when a recipe such as lasagna or baked ziti/penne calls for ricotta cheese.  I mush up the tofu and mix it in with the half skim ricotta and no one usually picks up on it unless I either say something or you already know (like my husband) I tend to bend the recipe rules.
So back to my on track journal…
It’s definitely easier to go for walks or to get yourself motivated to exercise when you have a buddy to push you.  I seriously miss Amy for this particular reason (not to mention we have the best time when we hang out).  You’re allowed to not exercise every day, however!!! When you don’t! Your friend will lose more weight than you haha.  It almost becomes a healthy competition.  I think we did fantastic when the boys were deployed.  Amy looked great! I fit into my size 9’s which doesn’t seem like a big deal, but when those size 9’s were loose it was a big deal to me.  Then the boys get home… we get busy catching up with them and lose track of finding time to exercise.  Then people get transferred to different states and you have to find a new exercise buddy.  Mine is still pending…
SO!! I saw Hunger Games not too long ago, maybe a couple of months ago I forget.  I started to read the book as well.  For some reason after watching that movie I really got this I have to get in shape kick. (Which obviously I had forgotten till now) All that running and all the huffing and puffing I would do got me really sad.  I want to be able to climb up a stupid tree and run away super-fast from creepy dog looking monsters.  Ok maybe not in real life… but god forbid there’s ever a zombie apocalypse I will be prepared to run!! Ok maybe I’m totally out of my mind.
Now veggies, fruits and all that good stuff… So I get into these weird phases, I buy fruit usually berries and I get the sour batch.  I absolutely hate sour fruit like blueberries and strawberries no amount of sugar can help them and by the time the sugar does help, what’s the point you added so much sugar to it its gross and you might as well have just eaten a jar of jam.  I end up not buying berries for a month, and binge on something gross.  Then… you get that one good batch of berries where you can just eat them out of the container and it’s awesome.  Then the process starts all over again for me.  Salad, I end up buying two bags or one of those huge plastic containers of my favorite spring mix, thinking oh I’m going to make this kind of salad and that kind of salad, and it’s going to be fantastic. Until it sits for a day too long and one little lettuce leaf goes bad, and contaminates the whole box.  Which reminds me, I bought strawberries the other day, and they looked so sweet I ended up going for the huge container verses the little one.  I ate a bunch but not enough and I looked not two days later and there was mold growing on them like crazy.  I actually Googled if I could salvage my strawberries and every site told me to throw them out, such a waste!! I was pretty upset about it, Joe laughed at me.
So I have no method to this diet, which I should probably come up with one sooner or later.  The only reason I have no method is because if I came up with some “plan” I know I would find reason or ways to break my “plan”.  “Oh it’s the weekend, no diet on weekends” or “Oh it’s just one burrito” or “dijonaize you’re pretty tasty but you’re not mayo”.  So I came up with reasons as to why I won’t make a plan to avoid my reasons to break my said plan lol.  My only plan is to somehow motivate myself to get on track with not necessarily running although I really should, I’m just not into running too much.  I will try and figure something out that will work with my schedule as far as some sort of “other” exercise-ish thing like walking.  Yes I know running is probably the fastest way to lose weight and stay in shape. But so is only eating celery day and night for all your meals, but I’m definitely not doing that either!  I will regroup and hope to get back to this page.  I’m hoping that by the end of summer I’ll have lost something significant.  Maybe I’ll pretend to be working for a role in the new Hunger Games movie that the original director is now not filming (sucks right?  Google it, it’s really true he totally said suck it to the sequel).

  1. Count calories also, it will help.If you stick to at most a 1000 cal a day you will lose at east 3 pounds a week. 1200 cal a day and you will keep at yout current. 1400 cal a day and you will gain. Also, no junk food, no negative people, a little exercise and loving is all you need.

  2. I hate counting calories only because I literally spend half an hour to an hour a day trying to think back about what I ate or looking it up in one of those app database that claim to have everything listed.
My trick is to mainly eat fruits and veggies. I don't mean the fruit out of a can or in syrup. I just mean plain old fruit cut up, ready to eat. Plus lots of salads, which the dressing is the bad part for most salads, and that trick is to dip, and avoid "creamy" dressings.
If and when you have to eat pasta at least avoid straight white flour pasta and go for the whole wheat kind. I don't try and limit myself when it comes to eating because it becomes a challenge and I try and break the rules.
